Belfort, YMCA Golf Tourney Tops Half-Million Mark

YMCA Loudoun County (Va.) has honored furniture retailer Belfort Furniture for its fund-raising efforts.

Since 2004, Belfort Furniture, Dulles, Va., has been corporate sponsor for the YMCA Loudoun County Annual Charity Golf Tournament that supports the YMCA’s “Caring for Community” initiative. Over the years, furniture manufacturers and their representatives have generously supported the fundraiser, and this year topped the half-million dollar mark in contributions from the event.

More than 120 golfers, plus non-golfers, from AspenHome, Ashley Furniture, Vaughan Bassett, Huntington House, Lexington Home Brands, Kincaid Furniture, Rowe Furniture, Craftmaster Furniture, Bernhardt Furniture, Gat Creek, Universal Furniture and many more met May 1 at Loudoun Valley Golf and Country Club in Purcellville, Va.,for the cause. This year’s golf tournament raised more than $52,000.

This translates into sending more than 850 children to summer camp or to an after-school program.

Mike and Kristi Huber, founders of Belfort Furniture, and the YMCA Loudoun County joined forces 11 years ago to raise funds to provide quality after school programs and summer camp opportunities for local Loudoun County children.

“Even though we live and work in one of the wealthiest counties in the country, there are hardworking people who cannot make ends meet," Mike Huber said. "We are very proud to support the YMCA and their efforts to enhance the lives of so many families in our community.”

The event kicked off with a pre-golf party at Stone Tower Winery, Mike Huber’s new winery in Leesburg, Va. Led by Mike Huber, guests were given a tour of the new production facility and tank room. More than 200 furniture industry partners and Loudoun businesses attended the casual gathering for wine tasting and a barbeque amidst the breathtaking landscape of the Bull Run Mountains.

“We are indebted to Mike and Kristi Huber for their continued selfless support and their caring approach to the families who live in Loudoun County," said YMCA Loudoun County Executive Director Laura Fears. "They are more than a partner, they are family in our community.”
