Carls Furniture Closes Last 3 Stores

The 73-year-old South Florida retail chain Carls Furniture closed the doors to its last three stores Monday.
Carls Furniture is gone.
The furniture retailer shut down its three remaining stores Monday after serving South Florida for 73 years. The Coconut Creek-based company announced earlier this year it would close its showrooms in Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach and Coconut Creek after failing to recover from the recession.
Carls began liquidating its inventory in March, selling sofas, chandeliers and other pieces up to 70 percent off.
It will auction leftover items from Thursday to Monday at the Fort Lauderdale and Coconut Creek stores.
