Golf, Tennis Event Raises $1.4 Million for City of Hope

This month's City of Hope Golf and Tennis Tournament raised more than $1.4 million, a new record for the West Coast event that benefits City of Hope  medical research facility.

The event honored George Tsai and Jason Liu, chairman and CEO, respectively, of Fairmont Designs. Tsai and Liu were awarded the National Home Furnishings Industry's Lifetime Achievement Award.

Held at Coto de Caza Country Club in Southern California, attendees came from across the United States.

With Tsai’s influence and perseverance he was able to secure international donations and advocate for City of Hope around the world. Tsai and Liu were accompanied by their wives and families as they celebrated the campaign and expressed their honor to be selected for this award in 2014.

Led by co-chairs, Neil Friedman, Larry Furiani, Michael Gennet, Rick Powell, Chuck Reilly and Debra Tous, the committee meets monthly to plan the fundraising golf and tennis event for City of Hope.

Athena Miller, a 19-year-old cancer survivor,  sang the National Anthem prior to the evening dinner, and Fairmont Designs employee Melissa Shaw spoke of her treatment at City of Hope for Type 1 Diabetes.
