Hall of Fame Has Oral Histories on Web Site
June 6,
2014 by in Industry
The programming was developed by FurnitureDealer.net as a gift to the industry.
This is the first time that the Foundation has made its oral interviews available online on the site. To date, 41 extensive interviews with members of the Hall of Fame and other industry leaders have been published. A dozen others are in various stages of production.
“With the completion of search engine optimization, our oral histories become searchable sources of proprietary historical information,” said Bill Kimbrell, president of the Foundation. “For example, if you want to know what our leaders have to say about leadership, the search engine will pull up all of their comments, across all of the transcripts, making a wealth of proprietary Hall of Fame information more accessible.”
“The oral history program is part of our mission to preserve the stories and the history of our industry,” said George Cartledge III, chairman of the Foundation. “It is interesting to see the industry through the eyes of our leaders and to gain a fresh perspective of an earlier stage of history. You realize that some things never change while others are forever changed, which is why it’s essential that we permanently record information for generations to come. “
Printed versions of the oral histories are also available for purchase online(furniturehalloffame.com). Individual copies cost $25 each.
The Foundation continues to grow its oral history program and is accepting recommendations for other industry leaders whose stories should be captured. To send suggestions or receive more information, please contact lestep@furniturehalloffame.com.
