Oakridge Furniture Settles with Attorney General

A furniture retailer in Idaho has settled with the state's attorney general over a recent going out of business sale.
Oakridge Furniture of Idaho Falls has entered into an agreement with the state to resolve consumer protection issues related to the recent closure of the store, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said Wednesday.
The agreement -- which involves S & S Sales, Inc. (doing business as Oakridge Furniture), and S & S Sales’ owners, L. Kip and Angela Steed -- stems from allegations that the Steeds conducted an unlawful “going out of business sale.”
Under the Idaho Consumer Protection Act, a seller may not advertise a “going out of business sale” unless the seller is closing for good. The Steeds intended to close Oakridge Furniture and reopen in the future as an Ashley Furniture Store.
