Decorating Den Showcases Year's Best Designs

ShowcaseInterior design and home furnishings franchiser Decorating Den Interiors is showcasing award-winning room makeovers from this year’s 30th International Dream Room Contest on a special Web site presentation.

The design showcase features the top three makeovers in 12 categories as judged by a panel of international home furnishings journalists. It also introduces visitors to the winners of Easton, Md.-based Decorating Den Interiors’ top three design awards.

Decorating Den’s top design honor--Decorator of the Year--went to interior decorator and business owner Lynne Lawson of Columbia, Md., and her decorator Laura Gonzalez, whose family room won best overall and number one in that category. They also won first place in the living room category. This is the third time Lawson has won the award and the second with Gonzalez.

The Donayre Award, named after the Decorating Den Interiors Vice President for Design Carol Donayre Bugg and voted on by other franchise owners, went to interior decorator and business owner Kris Miller, of Austin, Texas, for her transformation of a student apartment into a space for visiting family and friends.

The Peoples Choice Award, selected from more than 24,000 online votes cast throughout North America, went to Sandy Kozar, of Knoxville, Tenn., for her makeover of a family room.

“These makeovers were done within real budgets for real homeowners, not staged,” said Carol Donarye Bugg, ASID, DDCD, vice president for design and author of five books on interior design and decorating. “As the best of more than 250 entries, these room designs can provide inspiring ideas for making one’s home more beautiful and inviting.”

The showcase categories are: Living rooms, family rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, children’s rooms, bathrooms, home offices, window treatments, outdoor spaces, commercial spaces, and miscellaneous.

Founded in 1969, Decorating Den Interiors design professionals represent more than 85 home furnishings suppliers offering furniture, case goods, accessories, lighting, floor and wall coverings, draperies and other hard and soft window treatments.
