Mike and Debbie Albert, owners of Pilgrim Furniture City, Southington, Conn., owners have been hosting their golf tournament since 2004 with proceeds always benefiting local agencies and food banks. The tournament is held at the Lake of Isles Golf Course at the Foxwoods Casino in North Stonington.
“This year the proceeds will go to the Channel 3 Kids Camp,” said Debbie Albert. “It’s a local camp for children who would not ordinarily get to go to camp. The Kids Camp is planning to build a 64-bed cabin for special needs children and we want to help make that happen.
“Partnering with the NAHFA just made perfect sense. And we hope this will help us easily fill the field and be able to obtain more sponsorships so the Kids Camp can quickly get their cabin built.”
“While this is the 10th year for the Pilgrim Furniture City tournament, Association members in the New England region have also held a tournament for the last six years,” said Mary Frye, NAHFA’s executive vice president. "This year seemed like the right time to join forces for one tournament. Even die-hard golfers in the industry have to eventually tend to their businesses. The Association is committed to working with our members to promote regional events, and golf events are popular.
"Bringing members together to network and have fun is always a good thing—and it’s made even better by being able to make a difference in the lives of children. It really is a win/win situation for everyone involved.”
