Costco April Sales Up

Warehouse retailer Costco reported a monthly sales increase of 7 percent with net sales of $8.56 billion for the month ended May 4 compared with the same four-week period last year.
Last year, the company reported net sales of $7.98 billion.
This year's four-week period included 27 days compared to 28 last year, reflecting the timing of Easter. The retailer estimated the calendar shift negatively impacted this year's net and comparable store sales by 1.5 and 2 percent.
For the 35e weeks ended March 4, Costco reported net sales of $73.21 billion, an increase of 6 percent from $69 billion during the similar period last year.
