SFC Webinar to Examine Fire Safety
April 16,
2014 by in Green, Industry
Dr. Arlene Blum, a biophysical chemist, visiting scholar at UC Berkeley’s Department of Chemistry and founder of the Green Science Policy Institute, will share how toxic fire retardant chemicals came to be required in such products as our upholstered furniture, and what alternatives we can choose.
Experts from the Green Science Policy Institute will be featured at SFC Next, the organization's conference June 13-14 in Washington D.C., to further discuss the six families or “classes” of chemicals which contain many of the harmful substances found in everyday products. Instead of worrying about tens of thousands of untested chemicals, we will learn about six classes containing many of the bad actor chemicals in consumer products, and about safer alternatives.
