Boyd Launches New UPS Program

Retailers who have at least one Boyd Specialty Sleep mattress on their floors now can have orders shipped directly to consumers under Boyd's new My Mattress Now program.

Under the service, Boyd will UPS single orders direct to retail shoppers--at their option--at a cost to retailers of only $20 per order.

Most orders would be shipped same-day from the company’s 60,000-square-foot warehouse in St. Louis; or from the company’s 320,000-square-foot warehouse in Los Angeles. Products destined for the east or west coasts typically reach consumers in three days.

“For years, we’ve been shipping orders for our products within 24 hours,” said Denny Boyd, president of Boyd Specialty Sleep, St. Louis. “Now we’re simply offering to ship orders directly to consumers on behalf of retailers who see the value in not having to buy products, inventory them or ship them to consumers.”

According to Boyd, retailers who leverage the My Mattress Now program also need not be concerned about issues such as inventory shrinkage or consumer calls about deliveries or product problems.

“We maintain a large staff of well trained, knowledgeable and dedicated people at the other end of our toll-free number,” he said.  “Many of these employees have been with us for 15 to 20 years. They know our products, are very skilled at answering questions and diagnosing issues, and can easily make the customer happy right away.

“Ultimately, retailers could use their delivery savings to incentivize floor salespeople to promote the program to shoppers.”

Boyd said what distinguishes the My Mattress Now service from any other producer ship program in the industry is that the beds are not made-to-order but stocked and readily available for same-day shipping.

“We think retailers will recognize the many advantages of this offering:  the tremendous cost savings, delivery efficiencies and operational convenience,” he said.
