Dobkins to Lead Bassett Xpress Motion Programs

Industry veteran Kent Dobkins has joined Bassett Furniture in the new position of director of strategic accounts for its new Bassett Xpress motion furniture programs.
The Bassett Motion Xpress program debuted this week at High Point Furniture Market. The program features eight new styles, each with multiple cover options. The comprehensive program allows retailers to mix products in container shipments. Bassett Xpress Motion, along with all the new Bassett Furniture introductions, can be seen in the company’s showroom, IHFC-C1200.
Bassett has produced selected items in the motion category for a number of years, but this is the first wholly integrated program according Bruce Cohenour, senior vice president, sales and merchandising.
To reinforce the successful expansion of this category, Bassett hired Dobkins in his newly created position. Dobkins will develop and oversee products and programs designed to illustrate and support Bassett’s strategic initiatives in motion furniture. He reports to Cohenour.
Prior to joining Bassett, Dobkins held similar management positions with Berkline, La-Z-Boy and, most recently, Lane Furniture.
