Tell Your Story for Furniture Hall of Fame

The American Furniture Hall of Fame Foundation is continuing its Tell Us Your Story project during the upcoming High Point Market. Video tapings may be done solo or in couples.
“There is nothing like watching someone tell a story that is important to them and to their company,” said George Cartledge III, president of the Foundation. “We owe it to ourselves as an industry to preserve the stories and anecdotes that we tell and love to hear. They were a big hit at the October Hall of Fame banquet and also can be viewed on our Web site and at the interactive kiosks at the Wall of Fame in Furniture Plaza.”
Michael Amini, AICO founder, is providing a videographer during the High Point Market.
"It’s like talking to a furniture friend and sharing a story," Amini said. "We all do it naturally and now we are capturing it on tape. It’s relaxed and takes about 10 minutes."
New stories taped during the October Market were by Doug Bassett, Vaughan-Bassett Furniture Co.; Dan Minor, Southwood Furniture; Stu Perlmutter, Harold’s Furniture; Paul Toms, Hooker Furniture Corp.; and Clark and Craig Young, from Bradington-Young.
These will be added to the previous stories including Don Belgrad, formerly with Schnadig Furniture International; Pedro and Carlos Capó, El Dorado Furniture; George Cartledge III, Grand Home Furnishings; Bill Child, R.C. Willey; Caroline Hipple, HB2 Resources; Bob Maricich, International Market Centers; Reyna Moore, Norwalk Furniture; Dave Palmer, formerly with the World Market Center and Travis Rose, Rose Brothers Furniture.
Video tapings will be held Saturday, April 5, and Monday, April 7, 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the AICO showroom, IHFC Commerce 802.

The stories, captured on video, serve four purposes. Excerpts will be presented at the Hall of Fame banquet in October, on the Foundation Web site, and on kiosks at the Wall of Fame in Furniture Plaza. They also are entered into the Foundation archives for future use as a video and written transcript.
The Foundation is also collecting company history books and historic photos to build its collection and further preserve the industry’s history. These materials can be sent to the American Furniture Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc. at 202 Neal Place, High Point, N.C., 27262.
