IHFRA Names 5 as Deans of IHFRA

The International Home Furnishings Representatives Association has named Mark Dilling, Al David, Ray Haislip, Harvey Leis and Greg Kirk the 2014 winners of the Charles B. Costar Dean of IHFRA Awards.

 


Mark Dilling has been a furniture representative for 15 years, currently representing Bauhaus, Bolton, and Chromcraft-Revington. He is an active member of the Midwest Furniture Club serving on the Board of Directors and is the Chairman of the Golf Outing Committee.  Mark attended the University of Iowa and currently resides in Chicago with his wife, Jennifer, and daughter, Ella, age 4.

David is an active member of the Home Furnishings Representatives of Michigan Chapter of IHFRA, currently serving as co-president of the chapter. He has been in the furniture industry since 1985. He began his furniture career in distribution and has been a senior marketing specialist with Ashley Home Furnishings for the last six and a half years.  

Haislip is a member of the Piedmont Furniture Club of N.C. and currently serves as president of the Virginia/Carolinas Chapter of IHFRA. He has worked in the furniture industry 36 years and holds the CHR designation. Haislip started his career in retail with Levitz Furniture, but then moved on to represent companies such as Schnadig, Brookwood, and La-Z-Boy. Presently, he is a sales representative for Parker House Furniture, American Furniture and BenchMaster.

Leis has more than 25 years industry experience, including 18 years as an entrepreneur manufacturing for global industry leaders. He has been an active member and serves on the board of Tri-State Home Furnishings Association and the Greater Metropolitan Furnishings Association. Leis currently represents Boraam, Eagle One Products, J&M Furniture and Polrey among others. He is a graduate of Philadelphia University, having completed post-graduate courses at Temple, Villanova, and Pennsylvania Wharton School.

Kirk has been in the furniture industry for 41 years. He is an active member of the West Virginia Chapter of IHFRA, where he serves as Vice-President of the Chapter and is head of the Golf Invitational Committee.  Kirk was brought into the business as an associate salesman at the age of 18 by long-time industry veteran John Dutko. Greg has been a sales representative for Vaughan-Bassett Furniture for 25 years. He also has represented Johnson City Bedding for two and a half years. His territory is West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky.

Awards will be presented at the 80th annual IHFRA Presidential Gala at the upcoming Spring High Point Market. The Gala will be held on Friday, April 4, at the IHFC Ballroom on the 11th floor of the Green Wing of IHFC.

The Dean of IHFRA Award recognizes quality of service and dedication to IHFRA and the Chapter. Recipient have set an outstanding example for others to follow. The award was renamed in 2007 to the Charles B. Costar Dean of IHFRA to honor Costar, a longtime member and officer of the organization. This award is in recognition of Costar’s dedicated service and loyalty to the representatives’ group.
