Louis Shanks, Tempur-Pedic Donate Beds to Fire Departments
Austin, Texas-based home furnishings retailer Louis Shanks has partnered with bedding supplier Tempur-Pedic to give more than 250 beds to fire departments in Central Texas.
The donation by Louis Shanks and Tempur-Pedic has a retail value of more than $250,000.
Ken Vogt, vice president of operations for Louis Shanks, coordinated the project with the fire chiefs and said the departments were ecstatic to receive the beds, allowing them to focus more of their budgets directly to firefighting equipment and education.
“Tempur-Pedic believes a good night’s rest is key to being your best during the day, which is crucial when you have a job as physically demanding as that of the firefighters in Central Texas," said Erin Brown, senior territory sales manager for Tempur-Pedic. "Tempur-Pedic is honored to help provide these brave men and women with comfortable beds, allowing them to properly serve deserving community members.”
The following fire departments received beds: Cedar Park, Marble Falls, Burnet, Liberty Hill, North Lake Travis, Pedernales, Leander, Buda, Kyle, Georgetown, Westlake, Helotes, Boerne, Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Balcones Heights, Shavano Park, Schertz, Olmos Park, Castle Hills and Leon Valley.
“We appreciate these first responders who put their lives on the line daily serving their communities,” said Mike Forwood, president of Louis Shanks. “All of us at Louis Shanks also truly value the generous support of Tempur-Pedic partnering in this worthwhile venture.”
The furniture retailer has a history of contributing to local charitable efforts including their yearly Marine Corps Toys for Tots holiday drive, a back-to-school backpack drive, and helping to furnish a home for a wounded veteran with Operation Finally Home.
