Jabs Sees Opportunity for Second Phoenix-area Store

American Furniture Warehouse CEO Jake Jabs is bullish on his company's move into Arizona and the retailer's planned opening for a second location there this summer.
Jake Jabs will not bring his iconic baby tigers to Arizona, just acres and acres of American Furniture Warehouse.
That might disappoint Colorado snowbirds who grew up watching the furniture magnate pitch couches and mattresses while tussling with lions and tigers on statewide television ads. But Jabs’ plans for a three-store outpost in metro Phoenix is not going to ruffle animal-rights feathers.
“Exotic animals these days are hard to come by, with all the activist groups,” explained Nolan Morrison, regional manager of American Furniture Warehouse.
Jabs, president and CEO, is so well known for his animals in the Centennial State that “South Park” parodied Jabs cuddling a black-and-white tiger in a 2007 episode.
