Whitewood Acquires Contract Manufacturer Sedgewick

Casual dining and ready-to-finish furniture vendor Whitewood Inds. has formed a contract division with its acquisition of High Point-based contract manufacturer Sedgewick Inds.

Jorge Mata, Whitewood CEO, stated that the inspiration for the acquisition was inspired by two things.

“Our vision some 30-plus years ago was to always look for opportunities to grow as well as offer our customers the very best service and product the industry has to offer," said Jorge Mata, CEO of Whitewood, Thomasville, N.C. "Sedgewick Inds.’ core values are in-line with our own. We have long wanted to break into the contract industry. The synergies of Whitewood Industries and Sedgewick Inds. will ensure the future growth of both companies.”

The founders of Sedgewick Industries, Kim and Leslie Crossman, will continue to manage production and the company’s current staff will stay in place.

Sedgewick Industries, sold under the name Custom Contract Furnishings, has been in business for more than 20 years and is a provider to fine contract suppliers throughout the United States.

Whitewood's divisions include Whitewood Ready-To-Finish (unfinished furniture), John Thomas Furniture (casual dining and custom finish programs) and International Concepts (a supplier to specialty retailers).
