Birdies for City of Hope

Office supplies retailer Staples and the Professional Golf Association have each committed to making donations to the City of Hope, and it's easy to participate.

Through the Birdies for Hope campaign, people are encouraged to go online and guess how many birdies will be made throughout the Northern Trust Open that tees off Thursday in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

For every birdie made during the golf tournament, Staples will donate $500 up to a total contribution of $500,000. For every online guess, the PGA will donate $100 up to a total contribution of $250,000.

In addition to helping boost the contribution, the winning birdie bidder will receive an all-expense paid tripe for two to the Barclays tournament in Paramus, N.J., in August.
