Lane Hamm has been named president of St. Louis-based Weekends Only.
Most recently, Hamm was CFO and director of stores for the retailer. He has held a progressive range of positions since joining the company in 2007. As president he assumes leadership of the Weekends Only executive team and will continue to focus on the retailer's growth.
Hamm succeeds Tom Phillips as president. Phillips continues his post as CEO and co-owner. As part of a succession plan, the move allows Phillips to step back from the day-to-day functions of the business, to focus on looking for real estate for the next Weekends Only location.
“Though I will remain CEO of this family business for some time, this appointment is part of our succession plan and serves as a natural transition between me and the next generation," Phillips said. "Having worked closely with Lane for the past few years, I have complete confidence in his readiness for this role due to his understanding of the importance of people, his knowledge of the business, and his proven leadership. I am confident I am placing the company that I love in the capable hands of someone who exemplifies the Weekends Only culture."
Hamm joined Weekends Only in 2007 as CFO. Prior to Weekends Only, he spent 10 years at Blockbuster in a variety of capacities including vice president of finance for the U.S. division and in his last two years was the CFO for Blockbuster Canada.
“I am honored to have been a part of Weekends Only for the past six years and this new opportunity to lead our unique organization," Hamm said. "We have a tremendous leadership team, and I look forward to working with the entire organization to advance our strategies and to continue to better fulfill our mission of saving our customer’s money."
