Local Furniture Maker Displeased with Ikea Opening in St. Louis

If you see what they saw, you might be in the furniture making business as well.
“Our stuff has a whole story to tell behind it,” says Jimmy Farah, Rustic Grain`s president. “It’s real wood. It’s not fabricated overseas. It’s actually picked in a 50 mile radius of St. Louis.”
You might call these furniture makers from St. Louis the anti-IKEA. They call themselves Rustic Grain.
It’s a group of creative carpenters who splintered off into a new direction, making furniture from old farms and barns.
“It’s the fourth oldest barn in Madison County in Illinois,” says Farah. “It was becoming a liability, kind of falling apart. We wanted to breathe new life into it. And what better way to dismantle something that was a liability and then turn into a piece that somebody could have in their home.”
