Foreign Accents Changes Families

Rug vendor Foreign Accents is expanding its sales, marketing and design team under new ownership.

Founder Trish Rempen will stay on as a consultant under new owner Doug Anderson.

"After 30 years of success and innovative design, it's time to hand the 'reins of rug responsibility' over to a new team," said Rempen, who has recently published her first book, "Meanwhile, Back in Los Ranchos," and wants to devote more time to traveling and future books. "I'm delighted with the way things have developed. The Andersons are a dream team, with expertise in business, design, merchandising, management and finance. They are excited about running Foreign Accents, and I'm thoroughly enjoying the transition activities. They are not only capable and professional, but they're good people."

Anderson said that while plans to expand the collections, add designs, and grow the company are in the works, Foreign Accents' look and spirit will remain the same.

Anderson has owned and operated both startup and existing businesses. His son, Kris Anderson, rose to lead a major business group in the financial world. Kris' wife, Molly Anderson, has worked in merchandising, design, and artistic production, with nationwide retail organizations and a television network. Molly is already busy developing three new collections for spring.

"We'll all come to April High Point together, to introduce everyone," Rempen said. "We'll certainly have a celebration, so please join us and meet the newest members of our Foreign Accents family."
