Downtown Libertyville, Ill., is losing one of its better known and longest running retailers, but the prominent and expansive space isn't expected to be empty long.
Arden's Furniture & Design has sold an eclectic mix of middle to high-end furnishings and accessories since 1974 on Milwaukee Avenue across from Cook Park, a popular community gathering spot. Though the family-owned business weathered the recession, sales couldn't keep up with mortgage payments on the property purchased during a real estate peak.

Topeka police are looking for two men who robbed a furniture store employee Saturday evening.
Around 6 p.m., officers responded to 1720 N Topeka Boulevard on an assault call. Police say an employee of Thompson-Crawley Furniture was leaving the business when two men, possibly in their early 20s, physically assaulted the employee and made off with $1,500 in cash along with credit card receipts from the store's nightly drop.

The former Borders Books space at the Wynnewood Shopping Center has its second new tenant since the bankrupt bookselling chain closed all of its remaining stores nationally in September. Affordable Home Furnishings opened Saturday with a toehold on the first floor of the store, close on the heels of Halloween Adventure, which occupied the space through October. Furniture Row Cos. will continue working with the Tim Tebow Foundation to raise funds for orphanages through the retailer's Denver Mattress brand.
It's the second such agreement with the foundation that Tebow, Heisman Trophy winner and Denver Broncos quarterback, established to serve orphanages around the world. Furniture Row previously provided consultation, interior design services and furnishings for Tebow's home in Denver.
"The Foundation exists to bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need," Tebow said. "With the help of great people and amazing companies like Furniture Row, we will make a difference."
A special promotional marketing effort featuring Tebow and his foundation will be included in upcoming Denver Mattress advertising.

The online collection includes new inventory in addition to the furniture, lighting, rugs, accessories and gifts that can be found in the Houston showroom.
