Dallas Market Center has announced the launch of PB&J: The Preview for Baby & Juvenile, a new baby and juvenile trade show.

The event for mass market retailers, created as a joint venture with the Toy Industry Association, will debut and run concurrently with TIA's annual Fall Toy Preview, Oct. 2-4 on the Dallas Market Center campus.

PB&J will offer a focused selection of baby and juvenile resources from leading manufacturers, with an emphasis on companies in the following categories: furniture, bedding, gifts, decor, baby care, accessories, strollers, high chairs, nursing/feeding.

"This joint venture was developed with the mass market in mind," said Bill Winsor, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center. "Our goal is to deliver an environment where corporate sourcing teams can conduct business more efficiently."

"We support this integrated show concept," said Neil Friedman, president of Toys 'R' Us. "Our buying teams and management can review products together and get more accomplished at one time."

"Delta has participated in the TIA Fall Toy Preview and found Dallas Market Center to be a great venue to meet key decision makers," said Joseph Shamie, president of Delta Children's Products. "Adding baby and juvenile to the product mix will make it even more attractive for our company€™s diverse product lines."

Echoing Fall Toy Preview's model, PB&J will be a by-appointment-only event that brings together vendors with mass retailers for private meetings as well as networking events. Dallas Market Center will provide meeting rooms, WiFi, special hospitality and other amenities. Dallas enjoys easy access from around the world, low travel costs, award-winning restaurants, and numerous entertainment options.

"TIA launched its Fall Toy Preview in 2007 to fulfill the need for early meetings between many of the largest toy vendors and retailers, but there are strong indications that a similar event is needed for baby and juvenile children's products," said Carter Keithley, TIA president. "We are pleased to have the opportunity to combine our expertise with that of the Dallas Market Center in initiating such a preview event for the baby and juvenile market."

Leda Furniture Expands Workforce

By Home Furnishings Business in Case Goods on November 29, 2011 Medium to high-end case goods manufacturer Leda Furniture says it has increased their manufacturing staff by 54 percent in the last three months.

€œWhile we have seen a modest increase in demand for our residential and office contract line, we are experiencing a tremendous increase in the hospitality sector,€ said Marco L. Confalone, Leda president.

A surge in hospitality case goods production has Leda scheduling hotel projects well into 2012. Leda attributes the increase to hotels starting to renovate their rooms and to Leda joining with JIS Contract, a sales and marketing specialist to the hospitality sector.

€œThe hotels we are approaching have either lost a domestic vendor and/or are not satisfied with the imported they have tried,€ Confalone said. €œOur reputation for providing quality domestically manufactured casegoods and responsive customer service in a timely manner, has allowed us obtain new hospitality customers.€

The increase in staff will not only allow Leda to accommodate this increase in production but also allow it to continue providing a quick-ship program for its residential and office contract retailers. €œWe are using this opportunity to increase our presence in the hospitality market and also maintain our commitment to our entire client base," said Confalone.
