Trump Home Launches New Bedding Line

The Trump Organization has partnered with Downlite for a luxury down and down alternative bedding collection under the Trump Home brand.

The collection, which will launch at the New York Home Fashions Market in September, will include comforters, pillows, feather beds, mattress pads, filled throws, basic sheets and duvets.  The new offering will be part of the successful Trump Home collection, which includes lighting, mattresses, bath textiles and accessories, decorative mirrors, and crystal stemware, barware and giftware.

The Trump Home luxury down and down alternative bedding collection will be available through select online retailers.

Nowell's Furniture to Close

After 107 years in business, Cary, N.C.-based retailer Nowell's Contemporary Furniture is going out of business.

The retailer will embark on a going-out-of-business sale Thursday. The first five days - Thursday, Aug. 23 through Monday, Aug. 27 - will be a private sale for the retailer's preferred customers by invitation.

The 20,000-square-foot store boasted one of the largest displays of contemporary home furnishings in North Carolina. The family-owned retailer got its start in Raleigh, N.C., and later relocated to Cary.

The retailer expects its inventory sale to be completed by the end of November.

Ikea Plans to Build Housing, Shopping Area in Germany

Swedish furniture giant Ikea plans to build a whole housing and shopping district in Hamburg, it has admitted - and is on the hunt for a 50,000 square metre area of the north German city to develop.

"We want to build a new area of the city from which Hamburg can benefit," Harald Müller, manager at property subsidiary Landprop told the Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper.

Williams-Sonoma Posts 10% Rise in Q2 Profit

Williams-Sonoma (NYSW: WSM) reported a 10% rise in its fiscal second quarter profit.

Williams-Sonoma now expects full-year adjusted profit of $2.44 to $2.51 per share, versus its earlier forecast of $2.42 to $2.49 per share.

Williams-Sonoma to Open Sydney Stores in 2013

Home furnishings retailer Williams-Sonoma has revealed it will open its first Australian location in Sydney's Bondi Junction in early fiscal 2013.

Williams-Sonoma Inc. is leasing a 22,000 square feet store in the Exchange Building at Bondi Junction to house the company's four retail brands, Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids and West Elm.
