Clint Eastwood's battle with a chair at the Republican National Convention was headline-making political news. But months before the Oscar-winning filmmaker and actor hit the stage, he began battling another chair that had nothing to do with an invisible Barack Obama.

In a lawsuit filed in April, Eastwood accused furniture maker Evofurniture of selling ottomans and chairs as "Clint" and "Eastwood" and trading on the goodwill associated with his name and his movies.

Home Trends & Design Makes Inc. List

Furniture supplier Home Trends & Design has been named to Inc. magazine's list of 5,000 fastest-growing private companies for 2012.

This is the second consecutive year that the company has achieved this

recognition from the magazine.

"It is an honor to be included in the Inc. 5000 list again this year and participating in the High Point Market is an important component of our marketing efforts," said Hank Cravey, CEO and cofounder of the company. "We are excited about our new location, you can see us to

the right-front as you come up the escalator, so we'll be very visible."

Cravey founded Home Trends & Design with with Dhaval Lodhavia, who oversees product design. 

Inc. magazine ranked Home Trends & Design No. 2705 on its sixth annual

Inc. 5000 list, a ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy - America's independent entrepreneurs. The companies on this year's list report having created more than 400,000 jobs in the past three years, and aggregate revenue among the honorees reached $299 billion.

WithIt Scholarship Established in Marvin Traub's Memory

A $10,000 gift from WithIt Co-Founder Peggy Traub is helping the home furnishings leadership network to launch its first matching campaign for student scholarships.

In order to jump start this new fund in memory of her late father, former Bloomingdale's CEO and President Marvin Traub, Peggy Traub has offered to match two dollars for each dollar donated, up to the first $5,000. This match effectively triples the value of each dollar donated.

WithIt has a strong history of supporting the industry by encouraging young women to pursue careers in the home furnishings industry. Students in every discipline of the industry have an opportunity to apply for this annual scholarship.

€œWith talented students requiring financial assistance in order to complete their degrees, giving scholarships is one of WithIt€™s highest priorities,€ said Violette Forman, vice president of the WithIt Scholarship Foundation. €œThis matching gift opportunity fueled by a generous gift from Peggy will greatly enhance our efforts to encourage others to support our scholars. By investing in our students today, our industries will earn dividends for decades to come.€

Donations must be made by Nov. 30 to receive matching funds. They may be made online.
