Thee Launches Collection with Altogether Home

By Home Furnishings Business in Furniture Retailing on November 7, 2012

Interior designer Marc Thee, founder of Marc-Michaels Interior Design, has launched a new collection of home furnishings available exclusively at Altogether Home.

This collection draws upon Thee's 25 years of experience designing luxury residences and boutique hotel projects, reflecting his ability to help others recognize the true potential of the spaces in which they live. Based on the principle that great design should express personal passions, each item has been designed to mix and match within a wide variety of interior design styles.

The initial Marc Thee Home Collection launch spans from organically-inspired bedding, headboards, vanities and more, which represent a stylish simplicity everyone can enjoy. Additional collections and products are expected to be added to Marc Thee Home Collection in Spring 2013.

Constructed in Calcinaia, Italy, Marc Thee Home Collection vanities feature a wide range of exclusive designs, including: bowl sinks, vessel sinks, and set top sinks. Each is tailored to define any bathroom with the precepts of stylish interior design, captured with a unique finesse; pricing from $1,638 to $3,024.

Marc Thee is now the first guest curator and a product designer for Altogether Home, an online home furnishings and accessories retailer. The interactive, online destination is designed to help take the guesswork out of creating a coordinated room by providing world-class interior design inspiration, approachable and individualized design advice, and beautiful, high-quality home furnishings at reasonable prices.

Pittsburgh Furniture Stores Team for Sandy Relief

By Home Furnishings Business in Community/Charitable Support on November 7, 2012

Contemporary furniture retailer PerLora and several other Pittsburgh furniture stores have teamed up to support Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

"People's lives were uprooted as a result of this super storm, and thousands have lost their homes. Businesses were destroyed and others are struggling to keep their lights on" said Perry Sigesmund, owner of PerLora. "It's moments like these when we all need to join together to help those in need, Lora and I knew we needed to find a way to get involved in our community. We are thrilled to be partnering with other furniture stores in the area and hope our combined efforts can really make a difference."

Other Pittsburgh-area retailers committed to the fundraising effort, which lasts through December, include Room Concepts, Today's Home, Levin Furniture, Weiss House, Colonial Modern and Bradley Michaels.

Each participating furniture store will ask customers who purchase merchandise to make a donation of $1 or more to the American Red Cross€™ disaster relief efforts starting this week through December. In addition, a number of the stores are also going to contribute to this cause.

"After experiencing the wrath of Hurricane Ivan firsthand in 2004 in Western Pennsylvania, and the devastation that followed, we will never forget those who step forward to help, this local effort is the least we can do for New Jersey and New York as they start the recovery process," said Jeff Lenchner of Today's Home, another of the group of furniture stores pitching in.

Not only do the partnering stores see this as a wonderful opportunity to partner together, it€™s also serves as a great way to collaborate with their customers during a time when fellow Americans could really use their help.

Aaron's Furnishes Home for Single Mom

By Home Furnishings Business in Community/Charitable Support on November 7, 2012

Rent-to-own furniture retailer Aaron's (NYSE: AAN) has teamed with Warrick Dunn Charities to furnish a home for a single mother with six children.

The Warrick Dunn Charities Homes for the Holidays program aids single parents in need by providing the materials necessary for long-term stability and the provisions required to ensure that both parent and children can thrive educationally, socially and economically.

Throughout the years the program has assisted 118 single parents and 317 dependents in Atlanta, Baltimore, Baton Rouge, Dallas, Tallahassee and Tampa. Aaron's has been a longtime supporter of Warrick Dunn Charities initiatives and began contributing the furnishings for the Homes for the Holidays program in 2003.

"It's so beautiful. The house, the furniture, it's the total package," said Cleo Williams, recipient of the Warrick Dunn Charities home with furnishings donated by Aaron's. "The kids are thrilled with their rooms, and we're all just so thankful to everyone involved for this wonderful surprise."

The contributions by Aaron's were made on behalf of ACORP, the Aaron's Community Outreach Program, which supports neighborhoods and communities across the country in which Aaron's stores are located. Among the list of donated items were full living and dining room sets and bedroom furniture for each of the bedrooms.

"Through the ACORP program, it is vital for Aaron's to acknowledge the communities who support us and, in turn, support them through initiatives like the Homes for the Holidays program, which was able to make this Thanksgiving a very special holiday for the Williams family," said Aaron's Vice President of North Eastern Operations Brock Roberts. "Aaron's strongly believes in giving back to our customers, especially during difficult economic times. In the midst of all the fallout from Sandy, it's uplifting to be a part of the process that is changing at least one east coast family's life for the better."
