Ikea Catalog Goes Interactive

Swedish furniture retailer Ikea has launched its first-ever interactive seasonal catalogue, just in time for the December holiday season.

The 31-page catalogue, entitled 'Celebrate Brilliantly', features a mix of video clips, interactive 'style solutions', as well as social media integration.

Loney Retires from IMC

Tom Loney has retired from his position of executive vice president of leasing for International Market Centers.

Loney has 28 years in the home furnishings industry, working in leasing and marketing at the International Home Furnishings Center in High Point.

Loney began his career at the IHFC in 1984 as eirector of marketing; in 1990 he was promoted to director of leasing for furnishings, and in 2002 to vice president of leasing. In 2005 he was named the executive vice president of Leasing and has been in the position for the last seven years. Loney will be moving to Florida with his wife, Harriet, where he will spend time his fishing and working on his golf game.

In Loney€™s departure, Richard Krapfel has been named director of leasing for IMC; and Susan Beck has been named leasing manager. Both will be based in High Point and report to Julie Messner, vice president of business development €“ High Point.

€œAs an integral member of our family for 28 years, Tom has the respect and admiration of our team and the hundreds of tenants he has built relationships with over the years. His passion will be missed, but we wish Tom and his family all the best in his next chapter,€ said Tom Mitchell, president of home furnishings for International Market Centers. €œAnd, as we continue our commitment to delivering exceptional service to our tenants, we are very pleased to announce the appointment of Richard and Susan who will add more firepower and expertise to our existing team of professionals.€

Krapfel will handle permanent leasing functions for IMC€™s portfolio of properties including   development, key tenant and prospect account management, and new and renewal leasing activity.  He brings extensive knowledge of the home furnishings industry, as well as many years of sales management experience with companies such as Valdese Weavers, Dicey, and Basofil Fibers, LLC. Krapfel has interfaced with all levels of customer management, including purchasing and customer service agents, to the presidents and CEO€™s of major companies.

As a new Leasing Manager for IMC, Beck will focus her expertise on Temporary Leasing in the Suites at Market Square. Beck comes to IMC with over 20 years of sales and account management experience in the home furnishings and interior design industries.

Ethan Allen Furnishes HGTV Dream Home

Furniture retailer and manufacturer Ethan Allen has partnered with HGTV as primary furnisher of the HGTV Dream Home 2013 on Kiawah Island, S.C.

This is the 17th year that HGTV has built and given away a HGTV Dream Home. Last year, HGTV received more than 81 million entries in what has become the biggest television giveaway ever. Each year, thousands of people tour the home during the entry period.

A local media day is set for 10 a.m.-noon, Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the HGTV Dream Home 2013.

The home, designed to exist in harmony with its environment while maintaining a contemporary flair, lies alongside tranquil tidal marshland and near pristine beaches in Indigo Park, Kiawah Island€™s first sustainable neighborhood.
