New Pacific Direct Expands in Las Vegas

Dining, bedroom and accent furniture importer New Pacific Direct is expanding its showroom for the upcoming Las Vegas Furniture Market.

The company is adding 1,600 square feet to its showroom in space A-919, bringing its total size to 3,600 square feet.
 
"We are expanding so that we can show our West Coast-based customers a wider range of product," said Henry Limarta, CEO of the 12-year-old company. "We expect 2013 to be a better year for our industry now that the election is over. To help our retailers stimulate business as the economy improves, we are bringing out a lot of creative new introductions in a range of styles and product categories."
 
At the winter Las Vegas Market, New Pacific Direct will introduce a total of about 150 new items. They include colonial-style case goods, mid-century modern accent and dining chairs, hydraulic-lift bar stools, casual wicker seating, and organic wood and rattan stools.

Groovystuff Set for Las Vegas

Reclaimed teak furniture vendor Groovystuff will unveil two new student design competitions at Las Vegas Furniture Market.

The new design competitions are with Columbia College in Chicago; and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill. Buyers can cast their vote on the submissions to win a "Led Zeppelin Celebration Day" prize package.

Along with the new Moonshine Collection, Groovystuff, Dallas, Texas, also has a new product discounting program for dealers attending the show. The exclusive to Market attendees includes: discounting on total invoice amount for stocking purchase orders, 1 percent off for every $1,000 order from stocking dealers; item-specific discounts on volume quantity purchases up to 50 percent off; and 10 percent off dealer pricing for 40-foot container/full-truckload direct shipments, plus free shipping.

Gift+Home Welcomes 77 New Temporaries

Gift+Home at Las Vegas Furniture Market will welcome 76 new exhibitors to the  temporary exhibits on the fourth and fifth floors of Building C for the upcoming show.

In total, Gift+Home at Las Vegas Market's ten easy-to-shop categories will present 250+ temporary exhibitors in 70,000-plus net square feet of exhibit space in World Market Center Las Vegas.

"Our strategic reorganization of the temporary exhibits not only will create better groupings of related gift and home resources on floors C4 and C5, but also will result in better synergies with permanent showrooms on adjacent floors of Building C," said Dorothy Belshaw, president of Gift & Home Décor, International Market Centers. "More than 30 percent of the companies on C4 and C5 are exhibiting for the first time, infusing the winter market with a wide range of exciting new resources, alongside returning and established industry brands."

Wolf Furniture Names Stoltz President, Promotes Shaffer & Crocker

Mid-Atlantic furniture retailer Wolf Furniture Co. has promoted Gene Stoltz to president of the Bellwood, Pa.-based company.

Also, Wolf promoted Vice President of Operations Doug Shaffer to senior vice president; and Controller Germaine Crocker to treasurer.

Stoltz is the second non-family member to serve as president in the 111-year company history. He also will serve as chief merchandising officer.

€œI know that with Gene€™s leadership and the full support of company management along with the effort of all associates, this will be a very productive period in Wolf €˜s history and growth," said CEO Doug Wolf.

Shaffer has more than 37 years of dedicated experience to Wolf€™s, where he has overseen the construction, renovation and opening of, or personally managed nearly every store in the Wolf operation.

€œDoug€™s promotion will allow for expanded opportunity of his expertise and knowledge throughout Wolf€™s operations,€ said Chairman John Wolf. "We are truly fortunate to have someone of Doug€™s untiring work ethic and knowledge in this role."

In addition to her new post as treasurer, Crocker will serve on the company executive committee.

Wolf Furniture was founded in Altoona in 1902. Corporate offices and main warehouse are in Bellwood, PA, with twelve store locations: Altoona, Chambersburg, Hanover, Harrisburg, Johnstown, Lancaster, Mechanicsburg, State College, and York, Pa.; Hagerstown and Frederick, Md.; and Leesburg, Va. There also is a Wolf Furniture Clearance Outlet located in Altoona.

Cresent Upgrades Las Vegas Showroom

Third-generation solid wood furniture vendor Cresent Fine Furniture is moving to a new Las Vegas Furniture Market showroom.

The new space is B-554 in World Market Center's Building B.

€œWe€™re excited to join some of the industry€™s best brands on the fifth floor of Building B," said Richard Tomkins, head of sales and marketing for Cresent. "Our business continues to flourish and we are looking forward to expanding our retail partnerships to showcase our best selling solid wood collections.€

Independent retailers have had success over the last year with Cresent€™s shared container program, which enables retailers to select from five collections to mix into 250-cube shipments directly from Cresent€™s Vietnam warehouse. 

Neno Nenoff, president of American Furniture Galleries(http://www.americanfurniture.com) in Colorado Springs, Col., praised the program: €œI love Cresent€™s direct ship program. They stock all the merchandise, I get it quickly and at a significant savings, which has boosted our margins.€

In December, Cresent launched a new Web site that is optimized for mobile devices.
