Excelsior Designs will be offering a custom rug program to go along with its furniture lines, including the Nicole Miller collection.
The line of rugs is a collaborative venture with Thailand-based manufacturer Carpet Creation.
“What makes this program so unique is the sheer number of choices available to customers,” said Steven Kayne, Excelsior president.
The program allows consumers to choose from a wide variety of colors and yarns. Six rug patterns have been created for the Nicole Miller collection, and eight patterns complement Excelsior Designs and Casa Novalia Leather. Each can be adapted for the shape and size that best suits the room.
The rugs are priced to retail beginning at $1,499 and are crafted of New Zealand wools and Asian silks.
The rugs can be seen at next week’s High Point Market and are expected to make their debut in Excelsior Designs retailers in January. The rugs will also be available in rug specialty stores.

Liquidation sales are set to get underway at 70 Storehouse locations today following Thursday’s U.S. Bankruptcy Court’s approval of the chain’s sale to Hudson Capital Partners.
The sales are expected to run 10 weeks. A liquidater, Hudson Capital was the only interested party to make an offer for the retailer. Hudson will pay about 85 percent of the value of Storehouse’s inventory, which is estimated at about $20 million.
Storehouse was put on the market when parent company The Rowe Cos. filed Chapter 11 last month. The upholstery producer Rowe Furniture is also operating under Chapter 11 protection, and the company has said it plans to focus only on manufacturing to emerge a profitable company.
Rowe had been trying to sell the retailer for a year prior to the bankruptcy filing.

The Department of Commerce has announced an extension of the deadline for issuing preliminary results of its administrative and new shipper reviews of Chinese manufacturers of wood bedroom furniture to Jan. 31, 2007.
The original due date was Oct. 3. Final results will be due by early June.
In March, the DOC initiated its reviews of Chinese manufacturers seeking lower or no tariffs resulting from the original anti-dumping investigation on wood bedroom bound for the U.S. market; and of “new shipper” reviews for the period June 24, 2004, through Dec. 31, 2005, a time frame not covered by the original investigation.
Tariff Act of 1930 requires the DOC to issue preliminary results within 245 days after the last day of the anniversary month of an order. However, if it is not practicable to complete the review within this time period, the same act allows an extension of the time period to a maximum of 365 days.
In a Federal Register Notice this week, the DOC said it needed more time to analyze information pertaining to the respondents’ sales practices, factors of production, and corporate relationships; to evaluate certain issues raised by the petitioners; and to issue and review responses to supplemental questionnaires.
