An entrepreneurial politician is someone who, despite the public's demand for greater accountability and transparency, persists in exploiting hidden channels to dole out pork and subsidies to favored constituents. That many politicians aspire to this status explains the enduring popularity of the U.S. antidumping law in Washington.

Sold by its supporters through an unquestioning media to a gullible public as a tool necessary to protect upstanding American producers and their workers from the ravages of predatory foreigners hell-bent on stealing the U.S. market, the antidumping law escapes the scrutiny it deserves.

West Knoxville Fowler's Furniture Building Sold

Fowler's Furniture owner Don Fowler has sold the West Knoxville, Tenn., building that anchored the family furniture business for many years to an LLC for $3.75 million.

The building at 410 N. Peters Road was sold to Fowlers Building Acquisition LLC. David M. Shiflett, a commercial real estate investment manager in Knoxville, is listed as general manager, according to the Knox County Register of Deeds office.

Shiflett could not be reached for comment.

Ikea Site in Burbank, Calif. to be Sold

City officials said they were thrilled about the ability to retain the top sales tax generator in Burbank.

Sealy, Serta, Simmons Sign On to Sponsor Furniture Row Race Team

Each of the three mattress brands will sponsor selected races, a total of 20 during the 36-event Sprint Cup schedule. The brands will carry top billing on the rear quarter panels of the No. 78 Furniture Row/Denver Mattress Chevrolet SS driven by Kurt Busch.
