Upholstery supplier Ekornes, Inc., along with its retail partners, raised more than $392,000 in its 5th annual Charity of Choice promotion.
The money raised during the seven-week promotion went to various charities that each dealer selected.
The promotion ran in North America during the holiday season from Nov. 21, to Jan. 14. Consumers were asked to donate $50 to the charity of the dealer's choice. In return for the donation, consumers received $200 off the purchase of a Stressless recliner or Stressless sofa. Ekornes and the dealers shared in the cost of the product discount.
"We are extremely pleased to have had the participation of 95 percent of our dealer base place orders during this promotion," said Peter Bjerregaard, Ekornes president. "It is important to us to drive business to our retailers through consumer promotions which can contribute so greatly to our communities at the same time."
The 2012 Charity of Choice promotion was supported with national television advertising, online advertising, in-store POP and advertising support materials for the dealers including print ads, flyers, graphics for dealer Web sites and more.

Luxury bedding vendor Pure LatexBliss will open its first permanent Tupelo Furniture Market showroom at the Feb. 28-March 3 show.
Nearly triple the size of its former temporary space, the 3,200-square-foot showroom will offer a more open and spacious presentation of bedding, merchandising solutions and point-of-purchase materials. Situated in a high traffic area in Building 4, Space 4418, the corner showroom features glass walls and an eye-catching, sleek, modern theme.
We have experienced incredible success at this show in the past and decided it was time to open a permanent space. We found that Tupelo Market attracts retailers we hadnt reached at Las Vegas or High Point Markets, said Kurt Ling, president of Atlanta-based Pure LatexBliss. The size of this showroom enables us to display all our offerings and properly tell the story of our beds without limiting to specific collections.
At the Market, Pure LatexBliss will showcase its ActiveFusion Climate Control mattress, topper and pillow collections; and introduce its CustomFit for You to the Tupelo Market. The retail merchandising program gives consumers the opportunity to design and build their bed in stores by allowing them to select a mattress, foundation, removable pillow top and pillow that is tailored to their personal preferences. With a variety of mattresses, foundations, pillow tops and pillows, the CustomFit program can offer customers nearly 150 possible combinations for creating their best bed with only a handful of floor samples.
Pure LatexBliss now has five showrooms worldwide: Brussels, Belgium, High Point, Las Vegas, Shelton, Conn., and Tupelo.
