Jason Phillips of The Phillips Collection, High Point, has won an Art of Design Award from Veranda magazine in the "Trade Secrets" category for furniture design.

The 26-year-old Phillips is creative director for his family's business, The Phillips Collection, and devotes the rest of his time to his own collection using 3D computer-aided-design systems instead of pen and paper.

Other winners of Veranda's first annual Art of Design Awards, a program that acknowledges the influence design and innovation have in defining the luxury industry include: Todd Reed, jewelry designer; Peter Pennoyer, architect; and Anthony Cochran and Jesse Johnson for eco-minded design.

In celebration of Veranda€™s Art of Design Awards, design centers across the country will host a day of open-to-the-public events based on the topic "The Art of Design: Redefining Luxury." The magazine's Editor-at-Large Carolyn Englefield will moderate a panel discussion between luxury and design industry leaders. The presentation will feature a 20-minute screening of The Art of Design documentary film.

Showroom events related to the theme of redefining luxury will follow this keynote presentation. To register for the Design Center Market Days, e-mail here. Registration is required, and space is limited.

The three-day event, €œLeadership2: Take It to the Next Level€, will offer inspirational speakers, networking opportunities, and focused break-out sessions to encourage personal and professional business growth.
