Platinum Decor, New Orleans, has reached a distribution agreement for the North American launch of Metafora Design at the upcoming High Point Market.
Metafora Design, an artistically inspired, modern art and furnishings manufacturer from Brazil, will distribute exclusively through Platinum Décor for the United States and Canada.
Metafora Design was founded by Adriano de Mendonca in 2002. With a university degree in architecture and a number of years dedicated to scale model making, the launch of his first sculptural exhibition was met with great success in South America. His work quickly expanded to the point where Metafora Designs today has an extensive body of work which is of extraordinary elegance and distinction.
"After coming to know of the work of Metafora Design over the last several years, we at Platinum have a deep respect for what is happening in this company," said Platinum Decor President Michael Adler. "We recognize that the evolution of this company parallels the evolution and accumulation of a great body of work by a gifted and talented artist. Adriano, the founder and artist behind the factory's work, describes how the inspiration from his work springs from his process of engaging with the materials as he works. In this way, each collection in and of itself is the inspiration for the next collection and in this way, the work keeps pushing itself forward as if Adriano is only the means to an end. I dont know if even Adriano understands this himself, but we at Platinum believe that Adriano is a truly gifted person who is accomplishing something very special."
Adriano de Mendonca will attend the High Point market for his company's launch in North America. Platinum Decor's showroom is in spaces 5H and 5I of the C&D Building.

The International Home Furnishings Representatives Association has formed a strategic alliance with virtual store specialist ayr1 to provide a virtual store program for retailers.
The project, designed to reach thousands of retailers through IHFRA members, will roll out at the upcoming High Point Furniture Market. Under the terms of the program, independent retailers can receive promotional pricing without a capital investment, and be part of ayr1's network of independent stores, who today receive in excess of 660,000 visitors per month, according to Quantcast.
The idea is to provide independent retailers the ability to have a complete virtual store, which is kept up to date by their participating manufacturers and reps. Retailers can illustrate their complete depth to consumers shopping in their local market.
"ayr1 has been providing effective solutions to retailers since 1999, and we are excited at the opportunity this creates for our members and the stores they serve," said IHFRA Executive Director Kathy Parks. "Over the past few years, we have all seen a diminishment within the independent retail channel that is essential to our membership. This program is specifically designed to enhance the marketing efforts of the retailers we all depend upon.
"We see this alliance as an essential step in preserving the independent retail channel that is currently being decimated by the absence of local retailers being found online in their local markets. Our proven system ensures that retailers are found online when consumers are searching. We look forward to the exposure IHFRA members can provide to local retailers, and expanding our network beyond the thousands of retailers we currently serve."
