Scheffer Joins, Bray Departs High Point Market Board

At its annual meeting, the board also recognized the long service of outgoing Secretary and board member John Bray, CEO of Vanguard Furniture. 

“John is a past chairman of the HPMA and did a fantastic job promoting the Market during his tenure," said Board Chairman Doug Bassett, President of Vaughan-Bassett Furniture. More recently, we called on him to serve an additional term on our Executive Committee and we thank him for the many years of guidance and wise counsel he has provided our board.”

Commenting on Scheffer's going the board, Bassett said: “The appointment of Jeff Scheffer to the Market Authority’s board of directors is a highly strategic one that will continue to strengthen the Authority’s role as an independent entity that represents all of the constituents that have a stake in the High Point Market.”

The Market Authority also named to a non-voting liaison role Michael Hayes, director of the North Carolina Department of Commerce's Furniture Export Office.

“We are happy to welcome our newest board members,” said Tom Conley, president and CEO of the High Point Market Authority. “Both Jeff and Mike will give us a strong representation for the many groups that have a stake in the High Point Market. We continue to build a board that better represents each constituent, from building owners and exhibitors, to retailers and designers, to city and county government.”
