ASID Names Tucker COO

Chris Tucker has been named chief operating officer for the American Society of Interior Designers.

In his new position, Tucker will oversee day-to-day operations, working in tandem with executive vice president and CEO Randy Fiser to execute the organization’s mission as a resource and advocate for the interior design industry. Tucker will play a central role in redoubling the ASID’s efforts to pursue its next generation initiatives.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have Chris join ASID,” said Fiser. “His outstanding leadership, management skills and marketing acumen will help us deliver an ASID 2.0 — providing maximum value to members and strengthening our leadership in the industry.”

Tucker succeeds Thom Banks, a  member of the leadership team who served ASID for 18 years, the past 15 as COO. Banks will remain with ASID through January, collaborating with Tucker during the transition period.

Tucker joins ASID after 11 years at the Association of American Medical Colleges, where he directed  marketing and oversaw one of the association’s largest professional development groups and its membership, conferences and programming. He also served on a number of project teams guiding the strategic direction of the organization, which represents 300,000 members of the academic medical community.

Previously, Tucker was director of The Washington Center at Johns Hopkins University. There he oversaw operations, management, programming and outreach as well as faculty and student services. Tucker also has held posts at the American Council on Education, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte  and Stanly Community College.
