IIDA Opens 2013 Global Excellence Awards

The awards are an international competition to honor and celebrate outstanding originality and excellence in the creation of interior design and architecture projects in 10 categories.

This marks the association's fourth year hosting the awards. BMW Designworks Group is the organization's partner for the competition.

“For nearly 20 years, IIDA has prided itself on being an international organization,” said Cheryl Durst, executive vice president and CEO. “With that in mind, we are thrilled to open this year’s IIDA Global Excellence Awards to the dynamic possibilities and perspectives that our worldwide reach can invite, and look forward to seeing an abundance of diverse, vibrant design rich with innovation and varied perspective.”

Submissions for the 2013 competition are now being accepted in the following categories: Corporate Space Large (1,000 square meters and above); Corporate Space Small (under 1,000 square meters); Cultural/Institutional/Educational (elementary/secondary educational facilities, colleges/universities, art museums, religious facilities, libraries); Healthcare (hospitals, medical facilities); Hotels; Municipal/Public Spaces (government spaces, sports arenas, casinos, entertainment/performing arts centers); Residences (private homes, embassies, consulates, assisted/senior living); Restaurants (restaurants, bars, lounges); Retail (stores, boutiques, showrooms); Spas/Fitness/Wellness Centers.

Projects submitted will be reviewed by an international jury to be announced. Deadline for entry is Nov. 22, and winners will be featured on the IIDA Web site. A Best of Competition winner will be announced at a special presentation during Maison & Objet Paris in January.
