Hows this for a furniture promotion?
A London man has set the new land speed record for--believe it or not--furniture, The Sun newspaper (United Kingdom) reported.
Marek Turowsk, a 38-year-old gardener, drove the street-legal settee at 92 miles per hour after winning a charity auction to operate the sofa, which was designed by former record holder, engineer Ed China, who built the machine for retailer sofa.com.
Money from the auction went to the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths.
The speedy sofa came equipped with a desk, plants and setting for tea and biscuits.
