Magnussen Home Furnishings has opened a distribution center in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, that company officials said will cut delivery lead times by up to 60 days when the facility becomes fully operational in about 18 months.
Called the Asian Distribution Center (ADC), the new facility will enable retailers to mix and match products from 13 bedroom and dining groups in a single container. From the date an order is placed, retailers will receive merchandise within 31 days on the West Coast and 45 days on the East Coast. Initially, the program will serve a limited number of customers, but will become fully operational for all container dealers over the next year to 18 months.
The ADC program is more than just a shipping and distribution center, said President and CEO Richard Magnussen. It is a concrete demonstration of Magnussen Homes commitment to lead the industry in innovative thinking about how we can partner with our dealers and reduce their costs of doing business.
Expanding upon the companys distribution center in Riverside, Calif., Magnussen said the Vietnam facility will help retailers lower costs by 25 percent or more with in-stock service that will lower investments in product inventories and increase the accuracy of inventory forecasting.
