Hooker Furniture, Martinsville, Va., announced Monday that it has completed the purchase of Sam Moore Furniturean upscale occasional chair manufacturerfrom La-Z-Boy, Monroe, Mich. The deal was first announced in February.
Were excited about further diversifying our company and becoming a more complete upholstery resource, as well as the long-term opportunity to grow revenues with the addition of Sam Moore, said Hooker Chairman, CEO and President Paul Toms. Hookers position as a niche player will be enhanced by Sam Moore, a dominant player in decorative chairs with an emphasis on fabric-to-frame customization.
Mike Moldenhauer, who will continue as president and CEO of Bedford, Va.-based Sam Moore, said he is optimistic about the potential for an expanded sales effort leading to increasing revenues for the company that is now a Hooker subsidiary. Adding the Hooker Furniture sales team will more than triple our selling and service efforts, Moldenhauer said. We all look forward to the obvious benefits from the marriage of our companies.
