The City of Hope is adding its annual Spirit of Life Award dinner to the downtown entertainment lineup for the fall High Point Market.
Instead of its traditional venue at Greensboros Four Seasons Sheraton, the dinner will be held at the tent outside of Showplace Wednesday, Oct. 3.
The dinner will still feature the industrys most talented members as the fourth annual American Furniture Idol returns to highlight the event. Event organizers are seeking candidates for the competition. Winners take home bragging rights for the entire year.
Prospective performers can contact Michael Sandler at City of Hope to sign up. He can be reached at msandler@coh.org or by phone at (800) 272-2310.
Other City of Hope events include the annual West Coast Golf and Tennis Tournament June 4 in Coto de Caza, Calif. This years tournament is being held in honor of Guildcraft of California executives Sid Blitz, Larry Quilling, Arthur Fink and Robert Papazian, who will receive a Lifetime Achievement award for leadership and philanthropy.
More than 400 industry members will participate in the tournament, dinner and auction. The event has collected more than $2.9 million for City of Hope since its inception in 1989, including a record $1.1 million last year. Visit

This summer, the fundraising continues with the fourth annual Midwest Dinner Cruise featuring views of Chicagos skyline Monday, Aug. 20. Last years cruise had about 300 participants at the sunset cocktail party on the decks of Mystic Blue Cruises.
