The Las Vegas Design Center at the World Market Center has announced two seminars for designers, including a presentation by Martti Rytkönen of Swedens Orrefors glass studio, Friday, May 4; and Lloyd Princeton of Design Management Group, Friday, June 1. Both events begin at 10 a.m.
The First Friday Design Series includes educational opportunities, showroom specials and hospitality events for the trade at the Las Vegas Design Center. Open year-round, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday, the Las Vegas Design Center offers 400,000 square feet of home furnishings showrooms, including furniture, lighting, floral, accessories, rugs and wall décor.
In a presentation titled A Narrative in Glass Rytkönen will discuss his work at Orrefors, which he joined in 1994 on a scholarship. Lee Walther, president of Scandinavian Collections in the Las Vegas Design Center said, Martti Rytkönen is a breath of fresh air in the unique way he designs his glass pieces. His love for story telling is clearly transformed into his work.
Princeton, who owns Design Management Company in New York and California, guides design business owners to greater profitability through marketing, pricing and staffing solutions. Attendees can earn .02 Continuing Education Units for the presentation he created for designers and retail store owners who offer design services.
