The event started at 8 a.m., but customers started lining up outside the store at 7:30 a.m. for the chance to win a free mattress and partake in the festivities.
The 150-plus attendees each received complimentary breakfast and walked out with a “nap sack” filled with goodies to promote a good night’s sleep including a pillow, spa package, Sleepy’s coupons, and more.
Guests mingled with Finnigan of WTMX and spun the WTMX prize wheel for the chance to win free prizes. Sam Khan , vice president of sales in Chicago, commented during a ribbon cutting, and Snooze Director Elizabeth Murphy , wearing pajamas, gave sleep tips to those in attendance.
Sleepy’s also donated 150 pairs of pajamas to the Chicago chapter of the Pajama Program, a charitable organization that delivers warm pajamas and books to local children in need.
In late June, Sleepy’s opened 10 stores in the greater Chicago area, with other stores expected to open later this year.
