Safavieh Recalls Lingerie Chests Due to Tip-Over Hazard

2017 by Larry Thomas in Bedroom, Furniture, Product
Case goods and upholstery resource Safavieh has voluntarily recalled about 500 lingerie chests because they pose a tip-over and entrapment hazard for children if not anchored to a wall.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the chests do not meet the voluntary industry tip-over standards. However, no incidents or injuries have been reported.
The agency said the recall involves the Audrey lingerie chest in a white smoke finish with item number AMH6584A. The item number is printed on a tag that was included in the product’s original box. The recalled chests one drawer and one door below the drawer.
They were sold online at Amazon.com, Overstock.com and Wayfair.com from January 2012 through June 2016.
The CPSC said consumers should immediately stop using any chest that is not anchored to a wall, place in an area not accessible to children, and contact Safavieh for a refund. The company also is contacting all known purchasers directly.
Consumers may contact Safavieh toll free at 856-422-9070 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. eastern time, Monday through Friday. Additional information also is available by visiting safavieh.com and clicking on “safety notice” at the bottom of the home page.
