Design Chicago Showcases Design Icons and Industry Leaders

The Design Center at the Merchandise MartTM will host Design Chicago, the Midwest’s Largest Interior Design Event, October 4-5.

Featuring the industry’s most celebrated designers and icons, Design Chicago is the place to explore product debuts, attend captivating presentations, and get CEU credits. And, it all takes place under one roof in more than 65 showrooms throughout theMart.

Open to trade professionals, attendees can register to experience compelling and educational events, presented by notable designers, media personalities, editors, manufacturers and associations hosted in the Design Center’s showrooms.

Tuesday, October 4th, Design Chicago opens with an exciting line up of events featuring the who’s who in the interior design industry. Headshot Day, hosted in Romo (Suite 6-152) by Editor at Large, will offer 15-minute photo sessions with a professional portrait photographer so get photo-ready. domino’s editorial director, Jessica Romm Perez, teams up with this year’s Ones To Watch finalists for an insightful discussion on what it takes to build your business and brand (Duralee, Suite 624). Meet acclaimed designer, Kyle Bunting at Edelman Leather (Suite 6-128) to see his newest collection of hides for walls, floors and upholstery. BRADLEY (Suite 6-157) and the top rising textile design stars including Payton Cosell Turner and Brian Kaspr, Flat Vernacular; George Venson, Voutsa LLC; Susan Jamieson, Bridget Beari; and Brett Beldock, Brett Design share their newest collections and trade secrets.

Wednesday, October 5th, Design Chicago’s second day of programming continues to entice attendees with 16 presentations by industry veterans, international designers and media personalities. Eleanor and Claire Niermann, daughters of acclaimed furniture designer Joe Niermann of Niermann Weeks (1447 Conference Center), give their insider methods, both old and new, of designing, fabricating, and finishing products. Made Goods (Suite 14-106) will celebrate its NEW showroom with a panel discussion, hosted by Traditional Home’s Senior Style Editor, Krissa Rossbund. Programming concludes in HOLLY HUNT (Suite 1428) with a lively media panel featuring top editors, Elaine Markoutsas of Traditional Home, Amelia Eaton of CHICago Life Blog, Cindy Dampier of Chicago Tribune, acclaimed stylst, Barri Leiner Grant, and moderator, Graham Kostic of Glossed & Found, on how to elevate your business via traditional, online and social media placements.

In addition to the Featured Presentations, Design Chicago will include Showroom Open Houses throughout floors 6, 14, 15 and 16.
