Tupeolo Furniture Market begins tomorrow and fall market officials are upbeat despite lower-than expected turnout at the spring market six months ago.
“We feel good about it,” said TFM President Kevin Seddon. “Our registration numbers are up from last market and certainly up from the February market.”
Registrations are up some 14 percent over last fall’s market and 23 percent higher than the spring market.
“We have a lot of new buyers coming in,” Seddon said, “And we have some 40 new companies exhibiting as well.”
While promotional furniture has been the market’s bread-and-butter, it has also made a push toward higher-end offerings.
In recent years the market established its design center in Building II, which caters to more designers and decorators.
“That also brings in more higher-end retailers who don’t normally attend Tupelo,” Seddon said.
Along with higher-end furniture, the design center also features more accessories and decor.
The Tupelo Fall Market comes two weeks after the conclusion of the Las Vegas Summer Market, which reported record attendance.
