Dr. John Turpin, dean of the School of Art and Design at High Point University, was recently invited to be a part of the international editorial board of a new book series to be published by Lund Humphries, a British publishing company that specializes in art books.
Turpin will provide global perspective to the publisher’s newly curated series, “Designing Interiors,” focusing on interior design and architecture.
The series, showcasing work from award-winning designers across the globe, targets audiences in the professional fields of interior design and architecture, as well as members of the general public interested in design.
As a part of this project, Turpin will suggest possible designers with an international reputation to feature, as well as advise on specific design topics that the books may cover.
“To be part of a project that celebrates the diverse artists and audiences of interior design is a privilege,” says Turpin. “Participating on this board for Lund Humphries allows me to recognize artists with international reputations, as well as help create a product that inspires people from numerous backgrounds to grow in their knowledge and appreciation of design.”
Turpin plans to carry his experience on the board over to his classroom, inspiring students to challenge the way they look at design.
“Good design comes from an awareness of art all over the world,” Turpin says, “And I want my students to gain that awareness in order to enrich their own personal design visions.”
