IDS Condemns North Carolina’s HB2

The Interior Design Society (IDS) has issued a statement condemning the passage of North Carolina’s HB2.

The company’s statement reads in full as follows:

As a membership association comprised of nearly 2,000 interior design and industry professionals, IDS condemns the discriminatory language and behavior evoked by HB2.

IDS is a proud supporter of the LGBTQ community and welcomes members of all genders and sexual orientations. We value our relationship with the interior design community as a whole and find HB2 and related laws to be detrimental to the industry at large.

“It’s our hope that all members of the LGBTQ community know where we stand with HB2 and feel welcome within our association” said Snoa Garrigan, IDS executive director. “Community is one of our core values and we strive to make each member feel like IDS is where he or she belongs regardless of race, religion, gender or sexual orientation.”

IDS hopes its voice is heard loud and clear as a declaration against hatred and bigotry. We encourage the interior design community to continue overshadowing the antipathy with acceptance and advocacy for equality.
