From Home Furnishing Business

CH Living to Open N.C. Factory

Upholstery supplier CH Living will open an east coast manufacturing facility in Greensboro, N.C., at the end of March.

Located at 314 Chimney Rock Road the facility will boast 180,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

Kayvan Torabian, CEO, said the factory will support the company’s east coast retailers and the company’s growth.

“Castle Home Furnishings, the division spin-off from Little Castle that sells recliners and gliders to full line upholstery market, has grown to a point where we need to expand capacity,” he said. “We strategically looked where the new capacity would best serve retailers and quickly recognized the fact that an east coast facility would be the best decision. We will use the facility to manufacture, warehouse and distribute our new sofas, loveseats and sectionals. This new facility will also be used for Little Castle Nursery production to create shorter delivery times for current customers.”

When the facility opens CH Living plans to employ 50 people initially, and eventually grow to 200 employees when fully staffed.

The location makes sense for the company giving it access to upholstery workers in this area, southeast fabric mills and key vendors to support production.

“The cost of doing business in North Carolina is advantageous compared to California currently and we will leverage that circumstance to start this facility,” said Steve Donatelli, CH Living director of finance.

The facility will include a research and development department for testing recliner and glider mechanisms and proprietary technology incorporated in the product line. In addition, a photography studio will be located in the facility for quick turnaround of imagery needs for retail customers.

“We will also develop a trends room on premise where our retail partners can explore the newest fabrics and silhouettes between markets,” Torabian said. “Collaborating with our customers creates the synergy necessary to be successful in today’s fast paced market.”
