High Point Market Names 9 Style Spotters

The High Point Market Authority has tagged its nine-person 2016 Style Spotters Team.

The Style Spotters are charged with shopping Market to uncover their favorite products and top trends. A card is then left on each item selected. The products are then posted on the High Point Market Pinterest boards and contribute to two Style Reports.

The 2016 team features:

Michelle Jennings Wiebe, ASID, Style Spotter “Emeritus”, Studio M, @StudioM_;

Malene Barnett, Malene B Studio, @malenebcarpets;

Laura Bielecki, Ellington Group, @luxuryinteriors;

Marie Flanigan, Marie Flanigan Interiors, @MarieFlanigan;

Brynn Olson, Brynn Olson Design Group, @BrynnOlson;

Anne Sage, AnneSage.com, @citysage;

Laura Umansky, Laura U Interior Design, @LauraUInc;

Erika Hollinshead Ward, Erika Ward Interiors, @MrsErikaWard, and;

Scot Meacham Wood, SMW Design, @ScotMeachamWood.

“I’m so excited to lead another Style Spotters team through the upcoming Markets,” Wiebe said. “It’s a strong team with a lot of experience and a great variety of styles and design aesthetics.”

This Style Spotters team will work through both 2016 Markets – April 16-20 and Oct. 22-26.

“We are excited about what this diverse team will bring to High Point Market with their individual styles, social media followings and their ability to spot trends affecting the home furnishings industry,” said Tom Conley, president and CEO of the High Point Market Authority.

Sponsored by Crypton, the program was unveiled during the Fall 2011 Market as home fashion trendsetters that showcase their favorite products and top trends from Market exhibitors on Pinterest. The 2016 team  was built through a combination of self-identified and well-known candidates, with an impartial vetting and selection committee, and HPMA sought a diverse and geographically balanced group. Julia Noran Johnston of The Editor at Large and the Dering Hall team, along with Michelle Wiebe, participated in the selection process.

Fo the first time in the program’s history, the HPMA partnered with a shelter publication in the selection of Marie Flanigan, a Texas-based interior designer, as one of this year’s Style Spotters. Flanigan was named to Traditional Home’s “Top 10 New Trad Designers” in 2015.

Market attendees are invited to join the Style Spotters at Spring Market Tuesday, April 19, at 9 a.m. for Style Spotters LIVE!, a free event during which the Style Spotters will discuss the top trends and products they found at Market. This event is immediately followed by the Style Spotters Trend Tours, which are led through Market by individual Style Spotters.

High Point Market has received international recognition as one of the top brands using Pinterest, most recently winning the 2014 “Best Use of Social Media” E.X.C.I.T.E. Award. Social media and branding experts have touted the Market’s Style Spotters program as a unique way to take advantage of brand building on Pinterest.
