Surya Expands Lighting Line

Rug and decorative accessories supplier Surya is expanding its line of floor and table lamps at this winter’s round of Markets.

Next month’s introduction marks the company’s largest expansion since Surya jumped into the lighting category two years ago.

Spanning a spectrum of lifestyles and price points, the new designs feature bases in a variety of materials and finishes, including shell mosaic inlay, crystal, marbled looks, antiqued metallics, cut-out designs and colored glass. Shades range from linen to metallic looks. Surya plans to highlight the collection in dedicated galleries within its Atlanta, Dallas and Las Vegas showrooms.

“Lighting is such an integral part of home décor, and we really wanted to step it up not only in terms of the variety of lighting options we offer but also the creativity and uniqueness that we bring to our designs,” said Satya Tiwari, president of Surya. “Our product development and sourcing teams have done a great job of bringing the latest trends into our line in a way that will make it even easier to create a cohesive, beautifully appointed look for any space. We think these new designs will truly resonate with our designer and retailer customers and look forward to sharing them at market.”

Also being shown at market are several new rug collections and line extensions.

Hand-tufted in India of 100 percent wool with a medium pile, the Castello collection combines traditional patterns that have been opened up and increased in scale with an updated palette of blues, grays and taupes to create a fresh, modern look with a nod to the past.

The geode-inspired Gypsy collection pairs abstract, organic shapes with a muted, multi-hued palette to bring a relaxed, contemporary look to living spaces. Hand tufted of 100 percent wool with a medium pile, the designs incorporate a hard twist texture and loop accents for added dimensionality.

Natural fiber goes modern in the latest additions to the Seaport collection. In these hand woven designs of jute and viscose, Bauhaus-inspired geometric shapes accented with pops of primary color create looks that are at once bold and understated.
