Fabulous Beekman Boys to Appear at Las Vegas Market
December 3,
2015 by in Las Vegas, Market
Brent Ridge, physician and former vice president of healthy living for Martha Steward Omnimedia, and his partner Josh Kilmer-Purcell, advertising executive and New York Times best-selling author, make up the duo of the Fabulous Beekman Boys.
The team began developing its brand strategy by purchasing the historic Beekman 1802 Farm in Sharon Springs, N.Y., in 2007. The pair introduced a line of goat milk cheeses and soaps, and added other artisanal items to the Beekman 1802 brand. The popularity of the brand spawned a reality television show, The Fabulous Beekman Boys, now airing on the Cooking Channel, chronicling how the pair learned to become gentleman farmers; they also competed and won the grand prize in CBS’s The Amazing Race in 2012.
“Las Vegas Market is thrilled to highlight the hottest lifestyle brands, and the Fabulous Beekman Boys – with their artisanal aesthetic that elevates everyday and celebrates casual chic – are emerging as the next generation of tastemakers,” said Dorothy Belshaw, president of Gift & Home Décor, International Market Centers. “As the leading furniture, home decor and gift destination in the western United States, Las Vegas Market is committed to presenting unique design viewpoints and style statements that are of interest to our fashion-focused market participants.”
Today, the Beekman 1802 line encompasses a full line of goat milk soaps, bath and body care items for the North American specialty gift and independent retail market. The Beekman 1802 collection is represented by Fine Lines in the Western U.S. and will be featured at Las Vegas Market in the Fine Lines showroom in Suite C1024.
The Beekman Boys will share tips, tricks, and guidelines for seamlessly cross-merchandising several categories as well as designing an aesthetic to fit and showcase lifestyle brands. In “Beekman 1802: Merchandising Lifestyle & Designing for Attraction of Opposites,” Ridge and Kilmer-Purcell also will discuss their successes with Beekman 1802, a lifestyle brand curated on the philosophy of proving that a farm can be bigger than its fences, and Beekman 1802 Mercantile, their flagship retail store in Sharon Springs, NY. The seminar will be presented on Monday, January 25, 2016, from 3:30pm to 4:30pm, on C-ONE in the Surya Seminar Room (C174).
Immediately following the seminar, from 4:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., Ridge and Kilmer-Purcell will host a special meet and greet event and signing of their newly released book “Beekman 1802: The Attraction of Opposites.” The book signing also will take place on C-ONE, sparking cross-category opportunities for buyers interested in both casual and decorative tabletop products and the synergistic Beekman 1802 product lines. Books will be available for purchase onsite.
“The Beekman Boys are trend thought leaders,” said Tomei Thomas, vice president of Beekman 1802 Beauty. “Retailers who meet them and experience their products in the Fine Lines showroom during the Las Vegas Market can translate their aesthetic and their inspiration – that a farm can be bigger than its fences – into their stores. Beekman 1802 really helps (retailers) showcase what is fast-becoming a nationally recognized brand for artisanal concepts and farm to skin and table product.”
In addition to the seminar and book signing, The Beekman Boys also will stage an “Instagram Takeover” during the Winter Las Vegas Market, touring showrooms, snapping and posting photos of the most interesting sights and fascinating finds; check out #ViewOnVegas for all of the best behind-the-scenes action, scouting the halls with Ridge and Kilmer-Purcell.
